Abstract

PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) is often described as a set of features and procedures that help to manage product data defining at the same time the products and processes implemented for development. The implementation of a PLM system remains a difficult and time consuming task. The issues faced by both editors and integrators arise from the specific aspect of customers' projects, even tough most functional needs are often generic. In this paper, we shall focus more particularly on configuration management that traces product evolutions throughout its lifecycle, we will insist on the links between the configuration needs and the multi-view approach models. In addition, we will present the context notion. A context notion allows the customization of points of view on configurations models so as to assist the PLM Solution designers or integrators in the particularization of views for the final user.
