Abstract

In this paper, fuzzy TOPSIS is proposed to evaluate employees' performances considering both subjective and objective criteria. Analytically, decision-makers are asked to express their opinions on comparative importance of various factors in linguistic term. These linguistic variable scales, such as “high”, “medium” and “low”, are then converted into fuzzy numbers, since the crisp value are inadequate to model real-life situations. The fuzzy appropriate indices of employees are then ranked and preferential ranking orders of employees are found. To deal quantitatively with imprecision or uncertainty, triangular fuzzy numbers are used throughout the analysis. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
