Abstract
“Emotional” intelligence is contrasted with traditional (“technical”) intelligence, and both are subordinated under “ethical” intelligence. The concept of emotional intelligence is quite new and was suggested by Goleman in 1995. It will be combined here with Kant's concept of three kinds of action (over 200 years ago) to the tripartite spectrum of technical, emotional, and ethical intelligence (Kant: skill, prudence, wisdom). A conceptual reconsideration of academic education will be suggested at the end.
