Abstract

This paper gives a brief overview of the three-year research project, 'Situation and intent recognition for risk finding and avoidance.' The project was launched in 2004 with the support of the Government of Japan, for developing proactive safety technology to detect mismatches among traffic environment, driver's recognition of it, and intent of the driver so that the driver may be provided with an appropriate assist functions in a situation-adaptive and context-dependent manner. This paper gives an introduction to the papers delivered in the organized session, 'Context-dependent driver support for automobile safety.'
