Abstract
Three different control strategies for haemodynamic control of extracorporeal circulation were developed, tested and compared to each other for the total cardiopulmonary bypass case. The controllers were tuned on robust stability and performance with a detailed model of the vascular system and the heart-lung machine. The control strategies were validated in simulation studies and on a haemodynamic vascular system simulator. All controllers were stable during simulations and in-vitro experiments in stationary and pulsatile control. An arterial blood flow controller with arterial pressure boundary control extension shows the best result.
