Abstract
► A novel label-free SPR-based aptasensor for thrombin detection was developed and characterized. ► This approach was based on the modification of a gold surface with 4-mercaptobenzoic acid, streptavidin and biotinylated anti-thrombin aptamer. ► The quantification of thrombin was performed from changes in the SPR angle. ► The biosensing platform demonstrated to be highly selective and sensitive for human thrombin with a detection limit of 12.0 nmol L−1 (240 fmol in the sample).
