Abstract
► In-vivo monitoring blood viscosity with a central venous catheter using bioimpedance is possible. ► The impedance model explains 89.2% (R2=.892) of the blood viscosity-shear rate relationship. ► The explained variance was similar to that of the model using the major blood determinants of viscosity. ► In all 10 patients no safety problems occurred with the impedance catheter technique.
