Abstract
This paper presents an observer design for nonlinear descriptor systems with monotone increasing nonlinearities. The basic idea of the observer design, which is based on recent results in the observer design for nonlinear systems without algebraic equations, is to analyze the estimation error dynamics via absolute stability. Using this approach, linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions are derived to guarantee stability of the estimation error dynamics and to compute the observer matrices. The applicability of the proposed observer design is demonstrated via an example.
