Abstract
A method for multiplexing information-bearing chaotic waveforms is demonstrated experimentally. This scheme increases the channel capacity of a chaotic communication system and provides some masking of the information content. In the transmitter, symbolic information is simultaneously encoded in two chaotic drive circuits using small perturbations. The waveforms are summed and transmitted as a single scalar signal. At the receiver, a pair of response oscillators synchronizes to the drive and de-multiplexes the signal. The transmitted information in each channel is extracted using a peak return threshold.
