Abstract

This paper describes an algorithm that is suitable for a Distributed Control System (DCS) for an Automatic Generation Control (AGC) mechanism along with the assessment of Generation Allocation under complex real time load frequency control of Power Plants. Due to deregulation of interconnected systems, the usage of real time prices to assist in the control of frequency and tie line deviations in power systems is essential. In addition, the Automatic Generation Control mechanism needs to act very fast and should be highly adaptable to market demands and real time varying prices simultaneously. Therefore, it is necessary to implement algorithms for Distribution Automation and an attempt has been made to use quasi-synchronous methodology.
