Abstract
This paper describes the system architecture of a remotely programmable and operated laboratory for PLC training. The laboratory is part of the ongoing project AutoTech which will support vocational training of automation professionals in Europe. AutoTech is supported by the European Commission within the Leonardo da Vinci framework. Partners are from Norway, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Romania. The main goal of this project is to develop a set of new, motivating, and innovative Internet based vocational training packages for automation technicians. The target groups are automation technicians who are working in industrial companies, and students currently involved with initial vocational training and formal learning.
