► Studies individual strategies in an indefinitely-repeated prisoner's dilemma. ► Considers a standard as well as a non-standard subject pool (students, clerical workers). ► Students cooperate more than workers. ► Cooperation increases in both subject pools when a personal punishment option is available. ► Students are more likely than workers to sanction uncooperative behavior.
