Abstract

The paper presents a numerical model for simulating the vibration of collecting electrodes in an electrostatic precipitator. The method of finite elements (FEM) was used to describe the shell elements of the collecting electrodes. The remaining elements of the system were modelled with the application of the rigid finite elements method (RFEM). The results of measuring validation and testing calculations are discussed.

► FEM model of collecting electrodes system is used for vibration simulations. ► The measurement validation of the model has been presented. ► Influence of geometrical parameters of the system on vibrations has been investigated. ► Wavier profiles of the electrodes cause significant normal acceleration. ► Displacing the anvil beam upwards doesn't increase significantly accelerations.
