Abstract
Photoluminescence in the characteristic blue-green region of the spectrum was emitted by zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films grown by chemical spray pyrolysis. We have been able to optimize spray rate and substrate temperature to obtain ZnO thin films with emission centered at ∼383 nm and ∼517 nm, respectively. We also observed that Al-doped ZnO films resulted in improved radiative efficiency of the near-band-edge emission; optimized Al-doped spray deposited thin films emitted only blue light.
