Abstract

The frequency and temperature dependent conductivity and dielectric properties of 6, 13-bis (tri-isopropylsilylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS-pentacene) are studied. All measurements are carried out over a wide range of frequency (100–105 Hz) and temperature (−50 °C to 150 °C). The conductivity–temperature plots are found to follow an Arrhenius relation till 105 °C then deviation in behavior takes place due to the phase transition. The existence of dielectric loss peaks at two positions α, β suggests the presence of relaxing dipoles in the material. The dielectric behavior is analyzed using dielectric permittivity (ε*), dielectric loss (tan δ) and electric modulus (M⁎) of the sample. It is found that the value of dielectric constant decreases with the increase of frequency and increases with the increase of temperature.
