Abstract
Population-based findings on the positive association between obesity and depressive symptoms can thus not be generalised to a clinical sample of depressed older patients. The impact of the WC on course and treatment outcome of late-life depression should be examined in clinical samples, taken into account the relative impact of the WC in proportion to the general level of obesity as indexed by the BMI and the role of adipokines.
