Abstract
In this paper, synthesis and characterization of HgTe nanoribbons via hydrothermal method is reported using inorganic precursor, [Hg(Salen)] (H2Salen=N,N′-bis-salicylidene-1,2-ethylendiamine) as a mercury source. Besides, the effect of various reaction factors is studied and the role of reducing agent on morphology and phase of the products is presented with a mechanistic point of view. The prepared HgTe nanoribbons were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectra, ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX).
