Abstract
► We used fMRI to examine networks associated with component processes of reading. ► We examined relationships between activation and variation in reading skill. ► Activation was different for orthographic, phonological and semantic processing. ► Different reading skills were associated with activation in separate brain regions. ► Normal variation in activation does not resemble differences observed in dyslexia.
