Abstract
⺠Content analysis studies reveal many parallels between dreaming and waking cognition. ⺠Lesion and imaging studies converge on the same neural substrate for dreaming. ⺠The neural substrate underlying dreaming has many overlaps with the default network. ⺠This shared neural substrate includes many cognitive processing regions. ⺠Dreaming and mind wandering may make use of the same simulation processes.
