Abstract
► We investigated shared representations of syntactic knowledge in music and action. ► Pianists imitated silent videos showing one hand playing chord sequences. ► Imitation was fastest when chords were harmonically congruent with the context. ► The effect of context increased with increasing musical training. ► Musical training may lead to a domain-general “grammar of action”.
