Abstract
⺠A modified RK paradigm was used to examine subjective awareness during retrieval. ⺠Know response proportions underestimated the influence of generation on familiarity. ⺠A new RK measure demonstrated strong generation effects for both R and K responses. ⺠Recognition memory performance was above chance under claimed null awareness. ⺠Memory performance was qualitatively different as a function of claimed awareness.
