Abstract
⺠Perceived event timing is often investigated with TOJs and SJs to determine a PSS. ⺠Fitting such data to aid interpretation implies countenancing a psychological model. ⺠Detection theoretic models of SJs and TOJs leave the meaning of the PSS ambiguous. ⺠We illustrate these issues by replicating audiovisual temporal recalibration. ⺠Occam's razor favours changed criteria for judging synchrony over changed latencies.
