Abstract
⺠We examine cueing effects in a target detection task with central cues. ⺠The proportion valid effect is explained by implicit orienting at short SOAs. ⺠Similar results occur for both arrow cues and circles with directional gaps. ⺠Spatially-informative cues evoke automatic attention shifts and facilitate learning.
