Abstract
► We used the task set procedure in which participants are cued with a task (reading aloud or case decision) on each trial. ► Word frequency (high or low) and SOA (0 ms or 750 ms) were manipulated. ► The effect of word frequency was reduced at the zero SOA. ► Results suggest that cue processes can occur in parallel with lexical processing.
