Abstract
⺠It is generally assumed that autobiographical remembering usually occurs voluntary. ⺠We examined the frequency of involuntary and voluntary memories in daily life. ⺠Involuntary memories outnumbered their voluntary counterparts. ⺠Involuntary recall is a typical way of accessing the personal past.
