Abstract
⺠The auditory N1 event-related potential is sensitive to the allocation of attention. ⺠Attended sounds elicit higher N1 amplitudes, indicating enhanced processing. ⺠We demonstrated that for soft sounds, attention also leads to an N1-latency decrease. ⺠This speed up is the result of a general attentional increase in sensory gain.
