Abstract
⺠Pattern separation is ascribed to the hippocampal dentate gyrus. ⺠The dentate is subject to norepinephrine modulatory control. ⺠We raised endogenous noradrenergic activity by using fearful stimuli. ⺠Noradrenergic activity was associated with enhanced pattern separation. ⺠Relationship persists after controlling for general memory enhancement.
