Abstract
⺠Emotional arousal can result in heightened consolidation of unwanted memories. ⺠Relaxing music may counter the increased arousal levels that neuromodulate memory. ⺠In two experiments, we show that relaxing music prevents enhanced emotional memory. ⺠Music may be a highly practical means of reducing recall of traumatic memories.
