Abstract

In a hand-operated torque primary standard machine, many parameters are very peculiar and can really influence the final results of a calibration. The paper presents studies to quantify how these parameters act and are able to influence the main operations of this type of machine. In conclusion, it is demonstrated that only an initial characterisation of the system is not enough to guarantee good results however, the daily use of the machine requires practice and a better knowledge of the cited parameters.

► We studied hand-operated parameters on a primary torque standard. ► Identify and isolate parameters vulnerable to different actions of the operators. ► Some different and no desirable behaviours could be noticed with different operators. ► Simple changes and cautions can really make the difference in the results. ► Extra information could be changed into improvement to the system and proceedings.
