Abstract
Vortex shedding method for hot-wire anemometer calibration is described. In this method, the vortex shedding frequency of the circular cylinder is measured. Then, the velocity is obtained from a Strouhal–Reynolds number relationship. The flow downstream of the circular cylinder consists of uniform flow, wake and overflow. The turbulence intensity and also Strouhal number at the downstream of circular cylinder varies. Therefore, in order to use vortex shedding method for hot-wire calibration, it is necessary to determine suitable position for placement of hot-wire probe. In this paper, the flow downstream of circular cylinder has been investigated and the suitable placement for hot-wire anemometer calibration is determined.
