Abstract
A non-contact method for the measurement of rotor speed and direction based on a quadrant photoelectric detector was proposed and the corresponding device was developed. The device can measure the speed of the rotor and its direction. Experimental results show that the device can get rid of both electronic noise and external disturbances effectively, and it can also avoid the effect of the change of optics facular intensity. The measurement range is 1–200,000 rpm, and the relative error is 0.001%.
