Abstract
► Compact closed-form formulae for the design of electro-optical modulators are given. ► Both thin-film and buffered layered modulators can be analyzed using these formulae. ► The presented formulae agree perfectly with measures reported in the literature. ► The formulae provide a powerful tool for modulator designs and optimizations.
