Abstract
⺠This ethnographic study documents experiences of Jehovah's Witnesses in their dealings with the German health care system. ⺠Illuminates how bioethical challenges are solved in practice by some German physicians. ⺠Focuses on refusal of blood transfusion showing different understandings and application of the concept of autonomy by physicians and Witness patients.
