Abstract
This paper studies the optical solitons and conservation laws for the driven nonlinear Schrödinger's equation in the presence of linear attenuation and detuning. The soliton solutions are obtained, conservation laws are retrieved and the Lie symmetry generators are computed. Both Kerr law as well as the power law nonlinearity are considered.
