Abstract
► We found that resilient places were densely populated, urban areas with high numbers of incoming residents. ► Identified amenable built and physical factors of resilient areas might decrease mortality in equally deprived areas. ► Unexpected findings indicate the need for better understanding of human-neighbourhood interactions and proxies of cohesion. ► We highlight the importance of advancing our understanding of place-specific resilience factors.
