Abstract
⺠The Safe Motherhood Promotion Project focuses on community mobilization and strengthening emergency obstetric care services. ⺠The project increased the use of antenatal care, postpartum emergency obstetric care and knowledge of danger signs. ⺠The project did not increase the use of skilled birth attendants, but community support groups played a role in promoting it.
