Abstract
This paper analyses the reasons why an inheritance is left in Spain. For this purpose, an analysis of the scientific literature that clarifies the key concepts of the study and contrasts the reasons why Spanish people think of leaving an inheritance. From the survey conducted by Nielsen on people over 50 years-old in all areas of Spain, it concluded that the precautionary motive gains weight to explain the reasons for leaving an inheritance.
