Abstract
In this paper the author complains about the receding role of the History of Economic Thought in the global academic community, maintains that this recession is producing unidimensional views of the work of the main economic authors and affirms that by having a closer look we may get some surprises with regards to the standard simplified conceptions. As a threefold illustration, by mainly quoting some overlooked parts of their work, the author points out the cases of Adam Smith, Francis Ysidro Edgeworth and John Maynard Keynes who offer capital lessons that have been disregarded by most of the present generation of economists.
