Política industrial: Única vía para salir del subdesarrollo

The aim of this paper is to investigate what we understand today by industrial policy. Understanding this is interesting, not only from the academic point of view but fundamentally for knowing what to do to succeed and pull a country out of underdevelopment. The countries of East Asia, starting with Japan, the Asian tigers (South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan) and recently China have achieved development in record time which is unparalleled in the history of mankind. Therefore study the general outline of the implemented policies in these countries is very useful for countries like Mexico. This paper describes synthetically the main elements to consider in an industrial policy, in order to disseminate and to convince society and the political class of the benefits of such a policy to achieve development.
