Abstract
Innovation studies have evolved during the last five decades. Disciplines and research areas have multiplied. One of the main goals of innovation studies had been to adress the wealth distribution problem through the continous creation of economic growth. However, in spite of an increased interest in these studies, the benefits generated are very limited, particularly in developing countries and disadvantage populations. The goal of this paper is to analyse the main approaches about innovation for inclusive development in order to create a framework to orientate empirical studies in developing countries. The paper describes the outlook of innovation studies and the emergence of innovation for inclusive development. The limits that innovation has had to produce social benefits for disadvantage populations are discussed. A theoretical model is proposed in relation to the newest literature of the field.
