Abstract
The United Nations Program for Development presented the Human Development Report 2013, which highlights than ever before in history, the living conditions and future prospects of so many people had changed so much and so fast, praises social programs education, health and particularly those aimed at combating poverty as the product of innovative social policies that have made great strides in reducing poverty. Therefore, the author analyzes comparatively the indicators that make up the Human Development Index, HDI adjusted for inequality and the Gender Inequality Index and warns that Latin American countries as a continent, certainly have the enormous challenge of reverse the poor performance of its indicators, as they have to move to another welfare scheme.
