Abstract
By using Principal Components as statistical tool, this paper deals with an international comparative analysis of the situation and development stage of the telecommunication services industry in Mexico (TLSl) in comparison with 64 countries, including developed, developing and direct Mexico's competitors in knowledge intensive services exportations, which requires a competitive TLSl. This analysis is made within the context of Slim's and oecd's vigorous debate provoked by the January 2012 report called oecd Review of Telecommunication Policy and Regulation in Mexico. Thus, the debate is in line of continuity with the recent telecommunication reform initiative general orientation. We look forward providing wide international indicators -wider than the oecd's- so as to understand Slim's and oecd's perspective in the debate, as well as the recent reform general orientation, under the consideration that the TLSl problematic solution requires much wider analyses horizons than those evoked until now, so as to promote the industry transit from it's actual monopolistic-rentist way of development to a new one based on service innovation and competitiveness.
