Abstract

A new approach for gas thermal characterization is presented. This method, based on a 3ω setup, is attractive because of its relatively simple implementation and its integration potentiality. A model referred to as an “apparent thermal conductivity” is presented as well as its scope of utilization. Measurements carried out on pure gas components are made to prove the relevance of the approach. The thermal conductivity of nitrogen, helium and carbon dioxide is measured at 298 K under atmospheric pressure with a less of 5 % discrepancy compared to reference values.
