Abstract
⺠We have newly introduced the effect of anticipation to the floor field model. ⺠We have performed counter-flow simulation of pedestrians with our model. ⺠Our results indicate that both weak and excessive anticipation decrease pedestrian flow. ⺠There is an optimal strength of anticipation to achieve the smoothest counter flow. ⺠The results of our simulation are verified by our experiment with real pedestrians.
