Abstract
Enhancement of giant magneto-impedance effect in Fe-based glass-coated microwires with an additional outer copper layer was investigated. Experimental results demonstrated that a capacitance was formed between the ferromagnetic core and the outer conductive layer, and the composite wire constructed a LC resonance element by itself. A new measuring method was used to lower the resonance frequency, and was advantageous to obtain resonance enhancement of giant magneto-impedance effect in miniaturization element. The impedance curve was simulated using the distributed parameter method and the calculated results agreed well with the experimental data.
