Abstract

Based on the observation of a giant stress-permeability effect on heterotypic ferrites with higher permeability under uniaxial strain, composites of electrostrain and stress-permeability are proposed for a dynamic electromagnetic transducer, which works by switching the dynamic electrostrain into the inner-stress oscillation of the ferromagnet, thereby the undulation of its permeability. The frequency response of the transducer shows that higher efficiency of transduction emerges at frequencies ranging from 50 to 250 kHz. Vibrating generators by using the stress-permeability is proposed. A voltage as high as dozens mVs has been measured under a mechanical vibration of 50–100 Hz frequency.
