Abstract
The recent spectacular development of salvage excavations in France and the related improvement of the archaeological data-base shed a new light on the questions around culture contacts between the Mediterranean and danubian Early Neolithic. It becomes evident that these contacts are a long-lasting and complex phenomenon involving not only exchanges of cultural elements (manufactured objects and raw material) but also processes of hybridisation of the material culture.
