Abstract
⺠We investigate tobacco retailer density and proximity to schools in NYC districts. ⺠We model how retailing around schools varies with district characteristics. ⺠Retailer density near schools is higher in socially disadvantaged districts. ⺠Density/proximity vary with population density, land use and public health coverage. ⺠Districts with high retail density and close proximity to schools do not overlap.
