- A long-term vision for the development of a Southern Ocean Observing System (SOOS) is proposed.
- Significant advances in cyberinfrastructure, modelling and observation technologies are needed to achieve the required capabilities.
- International cooperation, infrastructure and investment are critical for a successful SOOS.
- A regional pilot study is proposed as a key mid-term goal towards development of a SOOS.
