Abstract
▶ Bioconversion of lignocellulosics to biofuels generates excess of lignin. ▶ Lignin can be converted to liquid fuels by pyrolysis, fragmentation and hydroprocessing. ▶ New and efficient deoxygenation chemistries for lignin conversion need to be developed. ▶ Sustainable chemistry needed to convert lignin to low molecular weight aliphatics and aromatics.
